Make money on the side – 6 things worth knowing first

1

On the side means it must not cost you time you do not have

Most lists online throw everything into one pot: tutoring, delivering parcels, writing copy. Those are side jobs – they cost you hours in which you cannot do anything else. Something that genuinely runs on the side asks you to set it up once and barely anything after that. That line is where it is decided whether an offer suits you.

2

No capital, no prior knowledge, no contract

Anyone charging you to start, selling a „starter package“ or requiring a course is out. With eBesucher you need a computer or a phone with an internet connection and an up-to-date browser. Signing up asks for no payment details, there is no fee and no minimum term.

3

Payout from 2.00 Euro – with no fee

Many providers set the payout threshold so high that occasional users never reach it. With eBesucher you cash out via PayPal or SEPA as soon as your balance is worth 2.00 Euro. Payouts are processed at least every seven days, you can request as many as you like, and nothing is deducted.

4

Around since 2002 – which is rare in this field

The side-income field is full of offers that disappear after two years, together with their users' balances. eBesucher has been running since 2002. That is no promise about your earnings, but it answers the question of whether the balance you build today will still be paid out in six months.

5

No activity requirement and no minimum performance

You do not have to do something every day, meet a quota, or buy or sell anything. Leave eBesucher alone for three weeks and nothing happens – your balance stays where it is. That sounds obvious, but with survey and micro-job portals it often is not.

6

You can always check what you were credited for

Every paid visit appears in your statistics with its time and credit, and every payout comes with an invoice in the members area as proof. So you do not have to take anyone's word for what adds up at the end of the month – you can do the maths yourself.

What does „making money on the side“ actually mean?

Laptop with the eBesucher surfbar open next to a coffee cup - making money on the side
One visible tab is enough – the rest runs while you do something else.

The phrase is used for two very different things, and that is why so many guides end up unhelpful. It means either a side job – a second occupation that costs you fixed hours – or a side income that runs alongside your day without displacing it.

Both are legitimate, but the expectations are worlds apart. A side job pays predictably more and costs predictably more time. A side income pays less but asks almost nothing of you. Anyone looking for one and finding the other is disappointed either way.

This page describes the second case: ways that keep running while you work, study, cook or watch television. And it says openly where their limit is.

What is realistic – and what is not

Let us start with the unpleasant half, because it saves you the most time. A side income that runs passively does not replace a salary. If someone promises you four-figure monthly sums for doing nothing, the offer is either described wrongly or it earns from you rather than with you.

What is realistic with eBesucher is a solid side income: pocket money that accumulates on the side, a phone bill, a streaming subscription – or the advertising budget for a project of your own, if you spend your points as credit instead of cashing out. It replaces a regular job only in very rare cases.

How much adds up depends on three things, and none of them can be answered the same way for everyone:

  • How long the surfbar runs

Visits are paid for, not days registered. Someone who opens the tab in the morning and closes it at night collects a multiple of someone surfing ten minutes a day.

  • What advertisers are currently paying

Your points come from real advertising budgets. If demand for visitors like you is high, the rate per visit rises – if it is low, it falls. That fluctuates and cannot be guaranteed.

  • How many routes you combine

The surfbar, click ads and tasks run alongside one another. Using all three plus referrals gets you considerably further than running one of them.

So the most honest answer is: try it for a week and do the maths. Every paid visit appears in your statistics. After seven days you will know what comes out of your usage better than any projection on a sales page could tell you – and it costs you nothing beyond signing up.

The three routes at eBesucher in detail

eBesucher is a portal where advertisers book visitors for their websites. We pass part of that advertising revenue on to the members who view those sites. That gives three routes, differing in exactly one respect: how much attention they ask of you.

1. The surfbar – the most passive route

After signing up you get a personal surflink. Open it and the surfbar loads websites from our advertising partners one after another, showing each for a set visit time – usually between 30 seconds and a minute. When the time is up, points are credited and the next page loads. You do not have to click, rate or fill in anything.

One rule is decisive and easily missed: the tab has to stay visible in the foreground. A minimised window, a hidden tab or a locked screen do not count. That is not a technicality but the core of the business – advertisers pay for visits a human actually sees. For the surfbar you should use the free browser addon – it drives the page rotation.

2. Click ads – a little more effort, a little more return

With click ads you choose yourself which advertising you look at. You open an ad, stay on the page for the stated visit time and then receive your points. That costs a few seconds of attention per ad but pays better per visit than the surfbar.

With the eBesucher addon you also take part in the jackpot and can win bonus points. Click ads work well in between – on the train, during a lunch break, while waiting.

3. Tasks – small jobs with direct payment

A task is the most active of the three routes and the best paid. You search Google for a given term, click the advertiser's page in the results and stay briefly active there. The points then land directly in your account.

Tasks are not permanently available in unlimited numbers – there are as many as advertisers are currently booking. They are a good addition, but not a basis to plan on.

The eight routes compared

If you take only one table away from this page, take this one. It puts the four routes at eBesucher next to the four most common alternatives and answers the question most people arrive with: which one suits me? The second column is the decisive one – it separates what genuinely runs on the side from what costs you time.

Route Runs on the side? Your effort Earnings Suits you if …
1. Surfbar
eBesucher
yes start once, then nothing low but continuous your computer is on for long stretches anyway
2. Click ads
eBesucher
partly a few seconds per ad medium you have a few spare minutes here and there
3. Tasks
eBesucher
no one search plus a short visit highest per action you want to get more out of it deliberately
4. Referrals
eBesucher
yes refer once ongoing share you know others who would be interested
5. Paid surveys
other providers
no 10–20 min per survey a few euros per survey you want to invest time deliberately
6. Product and usability tests
other providers
no fixed appointments, real work highest of all you can keep appointments reliably
7. Micro-jobs via app
other providers
no errands and tasks on location small per job you are out and about a lot anyway
8. Selling second-hand
other providers
no photograph, list, ship one-off, sometimes high you wanted to clear things out anyway

The four routes at eBesucher do not exclude one another. What routes 5 to 8 involve is set out further down under other routes.

Increasing your earnings: referrals and your own surflinks

The biggest lever is one many people overlook because it does not look like work. Refer new members and you share in their activity permanently: 8 % of what the members you referred collect, and 5 % of the activity of the users they refer. It is not deducted from their balance – it comes on top.

The referral programme is the only part of the offer that genuinely runs without any further input once the referral is made. If passive income is what interests you, that is where it applies most closely at eBesucher.

Earning on the side safely: spotting dubious offers

Few topics attract as many dubious providers as this one. The good news is that the patterns repeat. Seven warning signs worth walking away from:

  • You have to pay first

Joining fee, training, „activation“, a compulsory starter package – a side income that demands payment up front is not one.

  • Specific high sums with no conditions

„3,000 € a month, fully automatic“ is bait, not a figure.

  • Time pressure and artificial scarcity

Countdowns and „only 3 places left“: anyone denying you time to think has a reason.

  • No imprint and no postal address

If it is missing, you do not know who to turn to if something goes wrong.

  • An absurdly high payout threshold

A 50 or 100 Euro minimum on cent-sized rewards means most users never see anything – which is often the point.

  • You are pushed to refer others before earning yourself

If referring is central and the actual offer peripheral, it is a pyramid scheme whatever it is called.

  • Data is requested that nobody needs

Neither a copy of your ID at first contact nor your banking credentials are required for a side income.

What eBesucher does and does not do with your data is set out in the privacy statement.

Other routes – and when they suit you better

eBesucher is not the right choice for every purpose, and it would be dishonest to write this page as though nothing else existed. Four common alternatives, honestly placed:

  • Paid surveys

A few euros per survey, and you are regularly screened out after some minutes for not matching the profile sought. Good if you want to invest time deliberately – poor if it is meant to run on the side.

  • Product and usability tests

Much better paid than anything passive, often 10 to 60 Euro per test. But places are limited, appointments fixed, and it is real work – a small side job rather than a side income.

  • Micro-jobs via app

Worth it if you are out and about a lot anyway, and not at all if you are not.

  • Selling things you no longer need

The fastest route to money there is – but a one-off.

If you are mainly on a phone, earning money with your phone is the better entry point. If the surfbar specifically interests you, getting paid to surf goes into more depth. For school students, separate rules apply, set out under earning money as a student.

Who eBesucher suits – and who it does not

It suits you if you already spend many hours at a computer or on a phone, want a side income without fixed obligations, do not want to invest money and are content with small regular amounts – or if you would rather spend your balance as advertising for a project of your own than cash it out.

It does not suit you if you need a larger sum at short notice, are looking for a predictable hourly rate, or expect a side income to build without you being at the device. In those cases a proper side job or paid testing serves you better – and we would rather say so now than after you are disappointed.

Frequently asked questions

How much can I earn on the side with eBesucher?

It depends on how long the surfbar runs for you and what advertisers are currently paying. A solid side income is realistic - pocket money that accumulates alongside your day, or the advertising budget for a project of your own. It replaces a regular job only in very rare cases. Every paid visit appears in your statistics, so you can do the maths yourself after a week.

Do I have to tell my employer?

Additional work is generally permitted, but your employment contract may require you to declare it or seek approval. A look at the contract settles that in five minutes.

Is eBesucher really free?

Yes, permanently. There are no fees, no minimum term and no payment details at sign-up. All you need is a computer or a phone with an internet connection and an up-to-date browser.

Does the surfbar have to stay visible?

Yes. The surfbar only counts visits while it runs as a visible tab in the foreground. Minimised, in a hidden tab, behind another window or with a locked screen, visits are not credited - advertisers pay for visits a human actually sees.

When and how do I get paid?

From a value of 2.00 Euro. You request payouts via PayPal or SEPA, they are processed at least every seven days, and you can request as many as you like. No payout fee is deducted.

How long until my first payout?

That depends on how much you collect - the 2.00 Euro threshold is deliberately low so that occasional users reach it too. Once you are there you request the payout yourself - payouts are processed at least every seven days.

Do I need prior knowledge to start?

No. If you can open a website and leave a tab open, you can use the surfbar. There is no test, no training and no qualification. The only step that needs a word of explanation is the browser extension - and that is one click in your browser store.

Does this work on a phone as well?

Yes. The surfbar runs in the mobile browser on smartphones and tablets. The same rule applies there: the tab has to stay visible in the foreground, a locked screen does not count. No app is installed.

Why doesn't the surfbar work with an ad blocker?

Because an ad blocker hides exactly what the advertiser is paying for. A visit where the advertising never arrives is worthless to them, so the surfbar detects ad blockers and does not credit those visits. Disable the blocker for eBesucher and the pages it opens and everything runs normally.

How do I spot a dubious side-income offer?

The clearest signs are: you have to pay first, specific high sums are promised with no conditions, time pressure is applied, there is no imprint, the payout threshold is absurdly high, referring others is the centre of the offer, or data is requested that nobody needs. If more than one applies, walk away.
