Not only his movies are thrilling but also his origin: His mother was born in the city Oer-Erkenschwick in North Rhine-Westphalia. His father is of German-Italian descent. His maternal grandmother was born in Russia, but she lived in Oer-Erkenschwick until her death. Due to his regular visits of his grandmother in his youth, he learned a little German.
