The Pillars of the Earth was written by the famous Welsh novelist Ken Follet and published in 1990. In the novel, Follet discusses the building of a cathedral in medieval England and deals with the architecture of churches in the middle ages. In Germany, as well as in many other countries, his work is considered as one of the most popular books.
