The Name of the Rose is one of the most famous thrillers of all time and the first novel of the Italian writer Umberto Eco. The story tells the deadly events in a late medieval Italian Benedictine Abbey, which are examined by the Franciscan father William of Baskerville. Umberto Ecos masterpiece was adapted by the French director Jean-Jacques Annaud and brought to the screen in 1986.
