The first coins

Scientists currently assume that the first coins have been manufactured simultaneously in different places around the world. Since 700 - 500 BC., coins have emerged in China, India and the Mediterranean. In each of these regions, the coins have been manufactured in different ways. Together with the condition that those coins all showed obvious differences in shape and striking, those facts imply a separate historical development, which to our knowledge took place coincidentally and within the same era.
