With more than 500.000 residents, Lisbon is not only the capital but also the largest city of Portugal. The city is the political, cultural and economic center of the country with several universities and the most important port in Portugal. The Belém Tower and the monastery "Mosteiro dos Jerónimos" are one of the most outstanding sights and belong to the UNESCO world cultural heritage. Other significant buildings are the São Bento Palace and the monastery "São Vicente de Fora". The Eduardo VII Park is ideal for relaxing and it also provides a beautiful view to the ocean. Bairro Alto (The Upper Quarter) is the center of Lisbon's nightlife with numerous restaurants, bars, clubs and even live music.
