For each inhabitant in Germany, there circulates around 30 eurocents of counterfeit money. More than 60.000 forged banknotes have been seized in 2010, whereas particularly the €50, €20 and €100 banknotes were affected. Thanks to a multitude of visible and invisible security features, the opportunities to identify fake paper bills are very advanced. Federal banks are nowadays able to determine the authenticity of a banknote in 99,9% of cases.
