Madeira

The Portuguese island Madeira is located west of Morocco in the Atlantic Ocean and is famous for its stunningly beautiful mountain landscape. In Madeira there are several summits whereby the highest peak is Pico Ruivo with an altitude of about 1,862 meters. The best time to visit is August and September as the average temperature rises above a pleasant 26°C. Besides the attractive botanical garden one shouldn't miss the unique community of Santana at the north coast of Madeira. Santana is famous for its traditional thatched farmhouses. The vast majority of the farmhouses are uninhabited and therefore free to visit. Santana also provides a cableway, which takes you to the nature park "Rocha do Navio".
