Bangkok

Bangkok is the capital city of Thailand and with about 8 million inhabitants by far also the largest city in the country. The city is the cultural center of the country and offers more than 400 wats (Buddhist temples) with Wat Phra Kaeo as the most important temple. That is because it accommodates "Emerald-Buddha" which is considered a protective image of the Kingdom of Thailand. Besides the National Gallery, the National Library and the National Theater the Thai Museum as well is located in the capital city. Especially worth seeing is the National Museum, not only because it is the biggest one in South East Asia, but also because it offers an impressive collection of art works from the Thai Bronze Age till today.
